Dr Hu Fai-chung, President of Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU), and Dr Chow Tak-sang, Vice President (University Administration), recently met with faculty and student representatives from the Departments of Chinese Language and Literature, Counselling and Psychology, Business Administration, and Sociology. The dialogue focused on the challenges posed by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the university’s internationalization, and ways to strengthen students’ sense of belonging to the university.

On the subject of AI, participants noted that while the technology can enhance learning efficiency, it also carries risks, including the potential erosion of critical thinking and learning motivation. President Hu emphasised that the learning process should not depend solely on AI for thinking and problem-solving. Rather, he highlighted that strengthening communication and interaction between teachers and students fosters mutual learning and inspiration, thereby unlocking limitless possibilities.
