On 29 September 2025, the Centre for Global Engagement hosted its very first Mid-Autumn Creative Lantern Competition, and it was a fantastic experience! Our exchange students from around the world gathered to dive into this vibrant culture and enjoy the enchanting festivities together.

Here’s to friendship, creativity, and the unforgettable spirit of this unique festival. The event was a total blast, organised as a lively competition! Exchange students unleashed their creativity, painting their favourite patterns on lanterns with vibrant pigments. It was a fantastic fusion of cultures and Mid-Autumn traditions, with everyone diving into the fun of painting and decorating their lanterns!

CGE also treated everyone to delicious traditional doubleyolk lotus seed paste mooncakes and delightful snow skin mooncakes. The students couldn’t get enough! Many were so excited that they planned to take some back to share with their fellow international friends. Margarita TIKHONOVA, an exchange student from Russia, exclaimed, “The mooncakes have a unique flavour—I’ve never tasted anything like them before!” What a sweet memory!
