A total of 248 outstanding students from Hong Kong Shue Yan University have been awarded scholarships under the Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarship Scheme (SPSS) for the 2025–26 Academic Year, amounting to HK$5.26 million in total.
The Scholarship Presentation Ceremony was held in April, with awardees including Tsang Tsz-ching (Year 4, Journalism and Communication), Zhao Yuehan (Year 4, History), Liu Hao (Year 3, Counselling and Psychology), Zumbehl Ben David (Year 2, Business Administration), and Li Zipeng (Year 1, Accounting).
Established in 2011 under the Self-financing Post-secondary Education Fund (SPEF), the SPSS aims to promote quality and sustainable development in the self-financing post-secondary sector. There are five types of scholarships and awards under the scheme, namely Outstanding Performance Scholarship, Best Progress Award, Talent Development Scholarship, Reaching Out Award and Endeavour Scholarship.
Awardees’ Reflections
Zumbehl Ben David – Outstanding Performance Scholarship
I am sincerely honoured to have received the HKSAR SPSS Outstanding Performance Scholarship. As a Year 2 Business Administration student at Hong Kong Shue Yan University, I am deeply grateful for the recognition this award provides for the personal sacrifices I have made in pursuit of academic excellence. Looking ahead, I plan to maintain relentless determination in my studies, volunteering in Hong Kong, cultivating leadership skills, and pursuing the CFA certification. As I continue to develop my business and finance acumen, I would like to thank my family, professors, and the HKSAR Government for their support.
Zhao Yuehan – Best Progress Award
As a final-year History major, I am deeply honoured to receive the Best Progress Award under the Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarship Scheme for the 2025/26 academic year. This recognition attests to my growth from uncertainty to determination. Moving forward, I will remain open to new perspectives and keep refining my methods of study. I would like to thank my university, family, and friends for their encouragement. I will continue to delve deeper into historical research, live up to this recognition, and strive to give back to society.
Liu Hao – Talent Development Scholarship
As a Year 3 Psychology student, I am deeply honoured to receive the Talent Development Scholarship under the Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarship Scheme for the 2025/26 academic year. I sincerely thank the Education Bureau for this recognition. This scholarship not only encourages me but also reinforces my determination to continue growing in my professional field. I am grateful for the support of my professors and classmates. I will treasure this honour and remain committed to applying what I have learned to contribute meaningfully to society.
Li Zipeng – Reaching Out Award
Attending this awards ceremony was an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere was warm and inspiring, with outstanding individuals sharing their stories and achievements. Witnessing their success made me realise the power of perseverance and hard work. I felt honoured to be part of this meaningful event, which not only recognized excellence but also encouraged everyone to continue pursuing their dreams. It was a memorable experience full of hope and motivation, leaving me deeply touched and eager to move forward with courage.
Tsang Tsz-ching – Endeavour Scholarship
I am truly honoured to receive the Endeavour Scholarship under the SPSS scheme. In my final year at Hong Kong Shue Yan University, this award means even more to me. It recognises my hard work, perseverance, and passion for learning. I want to thank my family for their constant encouragement and my teachers for their guidance. This scholarship motivates me to keep pushing forward, to give back to the community, and never to stop growing. I will continue to do my best and make everyone who believes in me proud.
