Mr. Steven LOKE, a member of Hong Kong Shue Yan University’s Board of Governors and the Executive Chairman of iFREE Group, has taken the helm of the newly established Alliance Forum Foundation Asia. It will serve as a regional office of the Alliance Forum Foundation, a non-governmental organization founded by Ambassador George HARA, a technology entrepreneur and venture capitalist, to facilitate social and economic development in Asia.

At the launching ceremony held at Hong Kong Shue Yan University, Prof. Catherine SUN, HKSYU Senior Vice President, delivered a welcome speech praising the Foundation’s efforts to host regional conferences and hold skills workshops. The conferences have helped pool world leaders’ wisdom in utilizing new technologies to reduce poverty and improve people’s lives in developing countries, whereas the workshops have provided local people with practical skills to deal with poverty related issues. She believes Asia will be at the core of global economic development in the coming decades, and now is a crucial time to foster new industries and promote dialogue among business leaders.
