After three decades in the workforce, Mr Gabriel PANG Tsz-kit, Chairman of Hong Kong Digital Entertainment Association, decided it was time to deepen his academic knowledge and strengthen his research capabilities. He returned to university and enrolled in the Master of Science in Game Development and Management programme offered by the Department of Data Science and Digital Innovation at Hong Kong Shue Yan University, joining its inaugural graduating cohort.

The programme’s curriculum, comprising approximately 70% technical content and 30% management studies, perfectly aligned with Gabriel’s professional aspirations. Supported by his friends, employees, and fellow association members, he embarked on a learning journey, exploring areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), object recognition, and industry management. Gabriel described the programme as both enriching and inspiring.

Beyond gaining new knowledge, he valued the opportunity to exchange ideas with classmates from diverse backgrounds and acquire practical insights into organisational leadership and business management.

The programme also broadened his perspective. While his work had previously centred on innovation, technology, and digital entertainment, his studies encouraged him to consider wider societal issues, including youth development, employment opportunities, and the public good.

As AI continues to transform industries at an unprecedented pace, Gabriel believes that a strong foundation in both technology and management is more important than ever. He emphasises that lifelong learning is essential for professionals seeking to keep pace with industry developments and unlock the full potential of emerging technologies.
