On 14 April 2026, around 20 students enrolled in the “Property Valuation, Funding and Finance” course of the Department of Economics and Finance at Hong Kong Shue Yan University, led by Dr Edward Tang, Associate Head of the Department; Professor Rita Li, Programme Director of the MSc in Financial Technology Management and Director of the Sustainable Real Estate Research Center; and Dr Raymond Yeung, Assistant Professor, visited the Sun Hung Kai Centre to gain first‑hand insights into real estate development in Hong Kong and related career opportunities.
The seminar began with Professor Rita Li’s introduction to the Department, which is recognised by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), as well as the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Surveying and Dispute Resolution to be launched at Shue Yan University.
Representatives of Sun Hung Kai Property (SHKP) then outlined the company’s various business areas, where students may find future job opportunities. They also introduced full-time job opportunities for Year Four students, alongside internship programmes.
Dr Benson Chan then introduced how Constructed Floor Area (CFA) and Gross Floor Area (GFA) influence real estate project development strategies, and discussed the implications of the BEAM Plus system in Hong Kong. The event concluded with remarks from Dr Raymond Yeung.
The visit provided students with a valuable opportunity to bridge classroom learning with real‑world industry practice. By gaining first‑hand exposure to real estate development, sustainable building design, and day‑to‑day industry operations, they enriched their understanding of the profession and found meaningful inspiration as they plan their future career paths.
