The Department of Business Administration successfully hosted its annual Business Week (BWeek) from 5 to 9 October 2026, under the theme “Future-Proof Business – Skills That Lead”. The programme comprised a series of specialised workshops, firm visits, and industry professional seminars designed to provide students with practical insights into generative AI, advanced data analytics, smart mobility, and digital financial ecosystems.

Workshop: Video Production with Generative AI (5 October AM)

Dr Colin Law covered the production journey from pre-production to distribution, exploring AI tools for concept development, scriptwriting, storyboard visualisation, and text-to-video generation.

This workshop equips students with the skills to integrate creative storytelling methodologies with contemporary technological applications, thereby improving operational efficiency in digital content creation and platform management.

Firm Visit: Smart Mobility & Innovation at KMB Shatin Depot (5 October PM)

Dr Colin Law and Dr Roy Ho accompanied students on an educational firm visit to the Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB) facility in Shatin. This visit provided a behind-the-scenes perspective on smart mobility initiatives, highlighting depot sustainability practices, artificial intelligence-enabled driver safety systems, and the implementation of the GPS-powered Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) system integrated into App1933.

Students benefited significantly from this engagement by directly linking theoretical classroom knowledge with real-world operational intelligence, fleet scheduling strategies, and public transport optimisation.

Workshop: Video Production with Generative AI (6 October AM)

Dr Colin Law guided an intensive session walking a new cohort of students through the digital production workflow, spanning from pre-production planning to final content distribution. Participants engaged with advanced artificial intelligence instruments geared toward conceptualisation, script composition, storyboard rendering, and automated text-to-video synthesis.

This module enables students to merge imaginative narrative techniques with modern software solutions, thereby elevating productivity and efficiency in digital media creation and channel administration.

Firm Visit: The Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (6 October PM)

Organised by Dr Alice Chung, who accompanied students alongside BA teaching faculty chaperones Dr Jessey Wang and Dr Vanessa Li, the visit to the Experience Centre at the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) exposed students to collaborative innovation, technology breakthroughs, and entrepreneurial success stories across various enterprises. During the visit, participants engaged with digital simulation displays and participated in an interactive challenge where they attempted to beat AI in matching surgical tools before and after surgery to ensure no medical instruments were left inside a patient’s body.

This visit aimed to broaden students’ horizons and encourage them to explore diverse future career pathways and emerging industry opportunities.

Workshop: AI Chatbot (7 October AM)

Dr Roy Ho led a workshop session designed to give students the opportunity to explore AI chatbot technologies using customised data and develop digital humans, providing valuable exposure that will benefit them in their future.

By having the opportunity to explore these innovative tools, participants can begin to understand how to leverage artificial intelligence for smarter decision-making and creative problem-solving, better preparing them for an evolving, tech-driven business environment.

Industry Professional Seminar: The Director’s Cut – Integrated Marketing Strategy (7 October PM)

Conducted by an experienced film director, Mr Andrew Ng Kai-yin delivered an engaging session on integrated marketing strategies for 2026, bridging creative production and data-driven marketing. The curriculum explored online tactics—including SEO, AI SEO, ASO, Google Analytics, short-form video, Google Ads AI Max, ROI calculation, and platform case studies like Amazon and Shopline—alongside insights from the director’s “Foodie Spy” campaign. It also covered offline execution, including O2O strategies, Google Tag Manager, and trends like pop-up markets, offering students comprehensive insights into modern brand promotion and local campaign execution.

Workshop: AI in Data Analytics and Data Visualisation / Presentation (8 October AM)

The workshop, led by Dr Gabriel Lai, began by examining high-demand professional roles centered around visual communication and executive slide design, highlighting how crucial storytelling is in the modern job market. To bridge the gap between traditional workflows and advanced efficiency, students participated in a hands-on lab focused on turning raw online data into persuasive presentations with zero coding required.

Using browser scraping tools alongside intelligent summarisation platforms like Gemini, attendees learned how to extract and synthesise information into structured insights. These insights were then seamlessly transformed into professional visual assets and interactive layouts using applications such as Napkin AI, Flourish AI, and Gamma, empowering students with practical, future-proof competencies.

Industry Professional Seminar: Financial Services & Planning Industry – AI, Data, and the Future of Wealth Management and Insurance Distribution (8 October PM)

Manulife HK leaders Mr Adrian Tse (Managing Partner, CFA) and Ms Alice Chen (Senior Agency Sales Manager & Shenzhen Investment KOL) delivered an insightful session on strategic wealth management, AI-driven portfolio analytics, alternative data macro forecasting, and hyper-personalised high-net-worth (HNW) relationship strategies. The seminar addressed frontline InsurTech deployment, business intelligence (BI) performance dashboards, and omnichannel engagement, concluding with a live demonstration of operational AI tools and digital interfaces used in real-world enterprise applications.

Ultimately, this session provided business administration students with valuable exposure to real-world business practices and industry applications via guest speakers, broadening their perspective on the modern financial ecosystem.

Workshop: AI in Data Analytics and Data Visualisation / Presentation (9 October AM)

Led by Dr Gabriel Lai, this session focused on equipping future business leaders with the technical agility demanded by top employers. It explored how modern automation accelerates data processing and executive presentation design.

Students dived straight into a practical, end-to-end workflow starting with automated web data extraction via Thunderbit. Participants then leveraged language models to summarise complex datasets before converting those findings into compelling visual diagrams and charts.

By utilising advanced design tools like Flourish AI and Gamma alongside conversational editing features, students quickly built polished, source-grounded presentation decks ready for high-stakes corporate environments.

Industry Professional Seminar: Pet Research Insights & Startup Success Stories (9 October 2026 PM)
