To mark the 55th anniversary of Hong Kong Shue Yan University’s founding and the 20th anniversary of its university title, HKSYU has launched the “HKSYU Service Stars” Volunteer Team. Comprising staff, students, and alumni, the team embodies the University’s commitment to giving back to the community through meaningful action.
On 7 February, the team held its inaugural initiative, “HKSYU: Collective of Kindness,” in partnership with the nonprofit organisation SideBySide at the “Good Mansion” Transitional Housing Project in Hung Hom. Through curated art workshops, gift distribution and structured engagement activities, volunteers facilitated meaningful engagement among residents, helping to reinforce neighborhood cohesion.
Dr Hu Fai-chung, HKSYU President; Dr Jason Chow Tak-sang, Vice President (University Administration); Dr Lee Ka-man, Assistant Vice President; and Professor Fong Fu-fai, Head of Department of Social Work, visited “Good Mansion” and joined the volunteer team in leading residents to write Spring Festival couplets and create festive crafts.
