On September 3, 2024, the Centre for Global Engagement (CGE) at HKSYU welcomed a delegation from the Consulate General of Israel in Hong Kong. This visit marked a significant step towards enhancing academic and cultural exchanges between HKSYU and Israeli institutions.
The delegation, led by Mr Amir LATI, Consul General of Israel, included representatives such as Ms Sahar Ken-Tor from the Political & Economic Department and Ms Ernie YUEN, Press Officer. Our university was represented by Prof Selina CHAN, Academic Vice President, and Dr Alice CHUNG, Director of Centre for Global Engagement;.
The discussions were both engaging and productive, focusing on potential collaborations in academic and cultural exchange. Key topics included student exchange programmes, joint research initiatives, and opportunities for faculty collaboration.
Following the initial meeting, the delegation facilitated a connection with Tel Aviv University (TAU), ranked as top university in Israel. On September 24, 2024, CGE had a meeting with TAU representatives, including Professor Milette SHAMIR, Vice-President for International Affairs, and Mr Konstantin PLATONOV, Asia Engagement Director of The Lowy International School of TAU. This meeting aimed to explore the initiation of academic and cultural exchanges between students of HKSYU and TAU.
The delegation from TAU also engaged with Dr Alice CHUNG; Dr TSANG Chung-Kin, Associate Head of Sociology; and Professor Nick LAU, Head of the Department of Applied Data Science at HKSYU. Two parties explored promising opportunities for collaborative programmes that would significantly benefit students and faculty.
