Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) has entered the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings for the first time, placing in the 1001–1200 band in the latest 2027 edition. Since 2020, the University has been submitting data to QS, and this milestone—coinciding with its 55th anniversary—marks HKSYU as the first private university in Hong Kong to be included. The University has pledged to continue advancing academic research and international development.

The QS World University Rankings assess over 8,800 institutions worldwide. HKSYU noted that it performed particularly well in the indicators of “Global Engagement”, “Academic Reputation” and “Employer Reputation”, reflecting that the performance of its faculty, students, and graduates is widely recognised by various sectors.

To strengthen its international profile, Dr Alex Li, Associate Academic Vice President (University Research) emphasised that HKSYU actively encourages researchers to build collaborative partnerships with scholars overseas and across regions, undertaking joint projects that expand knowledge exchange. The University also supports faculty members and postgraduate students in attending international academic conferences through funding and other schemes, further broadening its global research network.

Balancing teaching and research, HKSYU strives to foster a positive and open environment where faculty and students can fully realise their potential and contribute meaningfully to society. The international ranking serves as one form of external recognition of HKSYU’s work. The university is committed to promoting its long-term development while upholding its motto “Cultivating virtues of benevolence; broadening horizon and knowledge” (敦仁博物).
