Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) deeply mourns the passing of Mr. Chung King-fai, Doctor of Letters honoris causa of our University, who illuminated Hong Kong theatre as an exemplary role model in both word and deed. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family.
In 2018, the University conferred upon Dr. Chung the degree of Doctor of Letters, honoris causa, in recognition of his brilliant contributions to Hong Kong’s performing arts industry. His glittering achievements were unique. Even in his eighties, he retained a burning ambition, dedicating himself to nurturing young talent. Reflecting on life, he once mused, “Life is really good, and I will use whatever time life can still afford me to do my utmost.” His zest for life and his insistence on always making the best of his career shaped a beautiful life for Dr. Chung.
The University firmly believes that his masterly presence will be forever etched in the history of Shue Yan and the hearts of every faculty member and student, inspiring us to press forward with determination on our respective stages of life.
