On 26 August 2026, the Office of Student Affairs at Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) organised an “Anti-Scam Seminar for Mainland Students” ahead of the new academic year, which attracted over 350 participants. Representatives from the Hong Kong Police Force, Hong Kong Customs, and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority outlined common scam tactics and shared practical anti-fraud strategies to strengthen vigilance among Mainland students.
The Police highlighted four types of scams targeting students and reminded them of the “Three Key Anti-Scam Principles” — hang up, verify, and seek help — never trust a caller’s identity lightly and remain alert at all times.
