To mark its 55th anniversary, Hong Kong Shue Yan University has launched the “Community Service Project Series”, designed to apply academic research for the benefit of local communities.

The Department of History organised a field study titled “Exploring Hong Kong’s Fisherman’s Wharf: Stories from the Lives of Fishermen” on 28 April 2026. HKSYU alumni, secondary school students, teachers, and members of the public cruised through the Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter before boarding the ferry of Tai Pak Floating Restaurant. Participants listened to the stories of elderly fishermen, gaining valuable insights into Hong Kong’s fishing culture from both historical and everyday life perspectives.
