On 7 November 2025, Hong Kong Shue Yan University held its annual President’s List Ceremony to honour Year 1 to Year 3 students who achieved a yearly GPA of 3.5 or above and were listed on the Honour Roll for two consecutive semesters in the 2024/25 academic year. Out of more than 2,900 students across 12 departments, 185 were recognized for their outstanding academic performance.
Dr Hu Fai-chung, HKSYU Acting President, praised the awardees for their sustained effort and diligence, which resulted in excellent grades over the past two semesters. He highlighted that the President’s List serves two key purposes: to reinforce the value that the University places on academic achievement, and to recognise the intellectual accomplishment of the recipients. Dr Hu also encouraged recipients to maintain their momentum in subsequent academic performance, expressing his hope to see them return to the stage at next year’s ceremony.
Among the outstanding students was Li Shuyun, a Year 3 student in the Department of Economics and Finance. Speaking to Shue Yan Newsletter, Li shared that her motivation comes from a desire for self-improvement and proving her abilities. She emphasized the importance of seizing opportunities offered by the university and overcoming academic challenges through hard work or collaboration with peers. As a student from Mainland China, Li plans to stay in Hong Kong to pursue her career and contribute to society.
Also recognized was Song Zeyang, a Year 4 student in Business Administration, who is likewise from Mainland China. She noted that her good grades were the outcome of consistent effort. “I take every assignment, test, and class seriously. I’m proud of the results and grateful to my teachers, classmates, family — and myself,” Song said. She hopes to pursue a master’s degree in Hong Kong and enter the human resources consulting field. She added that her first-year performance was not strong, which motivated her to work even harder in subsequent years.
