The exhibition “Seeing is Creating: Textual-Visual Narratives of Hong Kong/Children’s Literature”, organized by Dr Michelle CHAN from the Department of English and Literature at HKSYU, was held from November 6 to 18, 2024 at Parallel Space in Sham Shui Po. This exhibition featured copies of magazines, books, and booklets from different eras, showcasing the rich collaboration between pictures and texts in Hong Kong children’s literature. By exploring these texts, visitors gained a strong understanding and appreciation of the creativity and significance of both narratives in storytelling.

During the exhibition, Miss Ho Tsz-mei, founder and director of Boundless Literacy Foundation and the Chairman of Hong Kong Children’s Arts Society; and Miss Suki YEUNG, a Hong Kong- based slasher who works as an illustrator, travel book writer, graphic designer, and author of historical picture books, discussed the reprinting of Ho Tsz’s stories and the roles and values of Ho Tsz in Hong Kong children’s literature. They also shared the challenges encoun – tered in the reprinting process and explored how illustrations enrich stories and reflect Ho Tsz’s sig – nificance today.
