With the support of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), the Library, the Language Centre, and our exchange buddies, the Centre for Global Engagement (CGE) successfully organized the orientation programme for Inbound exchange students on 30 August, 2024.
This semester, we are pleased to welcome 24 in bound students from 11 countries and regions to study at our university. These students come from Belgium, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and five different institutions in Mainland China.
During the Orientation, our exchange buddies introduced HKSYU and Hong Kong to our exchange students from various per spectives, such as transportation, food culture and popular scenic spots.
We also invited a student counsellor to introduce various student services and activities provided by OSA. Additionally, the Language Centre conducted a Survival Cantonese Workshop to help students learn some basic Cantonese phrases.
Even after the orientation concluded, numerous fun activities were planned! Our buddies organized various events for the exchange students to participate in. Some of them tried and enjoyed one of the famous traditional dish in Hong Kong – Hotpot. They also took the iconic Star Ferry to experience the stunning views of the city’s beautiful harbour, providing a unique and scenic way to cross Victoria Harbour.
We encourage all students to extend a warm welcome to our exchange students when ever they encounter them on campus. Let us work together to foster an inclusive and friendly environment that promotes cultural
exchange and friendship.
