Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) held its 2025/26 University Sports Teams Pledging Ceremony on 22 October 2025 at Mrs. Dorothy KOO and Dr. Ti Hua KOO Plaza. The event brought together university management, faculty members, and student-athletes in a spirited show of unity and commitment, as athletes pledged to give their all in the upcoming season.
Dr Jason Chow, Vice President (University Administration), praised the dedication and achievements of Shue Yan athletes over the past year. In his speech, he highlighted their perseverance and passion, noting how rigorous training had been transformed into strength and how sports arenas had become platforms for self-expression. Their efforts were not just about winning, but about growth, determination, and passion.
Dr Chow reaffirmed the university’s commitment to whole-person education—an approach that nurtures both academic excellence and character development. He emphasized that the values cultivated on the field would empower students to face life’s challenges with resilience and confidence.
Sports Achievement Awards were presented to outstanding student-athletes who excelled in last year’s competitions organized by The University Sports Federation of Hong Kong, China Limited. The awards were handed out by Dr Wong Ka-ki, Associate Academic Vice President (Teaching and Learning Development); Dr Lee Ka-man, Assistant Vice President; and Dr Wendy Lui, Assistant Academic Vice President. Highlight was the symbolic flag handover ceremony, led by Professor Sun Tien-lun, Senior Vice President; and Dr Gong Xiao En, the Director of Physical Education. Two student representatives received the school flag, symbolizing their responsibility to represent Shue Yan with pride and to pursue excellence in every match.
As the 15th National Games approaches, HKSYU is proud to have 37 participants serving as “group volunteers” for the Basketball (Men’s U22) Competition.
