The Centre for Global Engagement at HKSYU co-hosted a summer programme in 2025 with Hertford College, University of Oxford. This summer, 25 students embarked on an exciting two-week study tour at Hertford College. They gained fresh perspectives on cultural, historical, economic, political, and social aspects, all while developing their academic and communication skills.

Exploring Architecture and London’s Treasures

Oxford’s iconic buildings are more than just structures—they are stories frozen in time. The students joyfully immersed themselves in the rich history of the city’s landmarks, wandering through enchanting centuries-old halls and charming cobblestone lanes, truly experiencing the essence of Oxford’s past. A memorable highlight was their visit to the National Gallery, where they had the wonderful opportunity to connect with incredible world-class art collections. Each step felt like a delightful journey through history!

Meaningful Lectures and Cultural Insights

Lectures are delivered in an engaging and fun manner, introducing exciting current social issues in Britain, such as population trends, immigration, and housing! Students enthusiastically explored the factors shaping multicultural Britain today. They also explored British society and culture through lively media and communication classes, polishing their journalism language skills. Additionally, students discovered how trends ripple through the economy and impact businesses, gaining a practical understanding of global economic dynamics. What a rich and meaningful learning experience!

Cherished Moments and Building Friendships

Beyond lectures and tours, some of the most treasured memories came from connecting with Oxford students! The students formed wonderful friendships as they shared laughter during wobbly attempts at rowing on the river, enjoyed friendly ping-pong competitions, and played fun board games together. These moments created bonds that transcend borders and truly enriched their entire journey!
