Reflections from the Awardees
Cheung Po-wai (Year 4, Social Work):
“Receiving the Link University Scholarship is a profound honour and transformative encouragement. This affirmation, like a guiding light, has dispelled my self-doubt and revealed a strength within me I hadn’t recognised. It’s more than financial aid; it’s a powerful message that perseverance is seen and valued. This experience has instilled in me a deeper self-belief and the courage to pursue greater challenges. I’m committed to honouring this support by continuously striving for excellence in my academic and personal growth. I’ll carry this confidence forward, aim higher, and ultimately pass on this legacy of encouragement by contributing meaningfully to my community.”
Wong Hoi-lam (Year 3, Social Work):
“I am deeply grateful and honoured to be selected as a recipient of this year’s Link University Student Scholarship. As a Social Work student, I have always been passionate about volunteer service, firmly believing that helping others brings true joy. This award not only recognises my past efforts but also strengthens my commitment to serving the community in the future. I sincerely thank Link and everyone who has supported me. I will continue to practise the core values of social work with professionalism and passion, bringing care and warmth to those in need.”
Hui Lok (Year 3, Social Work):
“I am grateful to the Department of Social Work for nurturing my ability to think from a social work perspective. Through this training, I learned to use empathy to understand the needs of different service users. During the interview, I approached the question on the “silver economy” from the seniors’ perspective, reflecting the care and insight of social work values. I believe this empathetic thinking helped me stand out and gain the interviewers’ appreciation.”
Pun Sau-wai (Year 2, Social Work):
“Receiving this scholarship is not only a recognition of my academic efforts, but also a valuable opportunity to meet people from different fields and to pursue my goals with greater determination. I will make the best use of this support to accomplish my academic plans. Although I cannot predict how accomplished I may become in the future, I will constantly remind myself to approach both my studies and life with seriousness and positivity, to live up to all those who have offered me their support and encouragement.”
Lam Ho-wai (Year 1, Social Work):
“I’m truly honored to receive the Link University Scholarship for Year 1 University Studies in my first year. As a social work student, I will use this fund to better myself by taking a variety of interesting courses. Meanwhile, it has greatly eased my financial burden, enabling me to focus more wholeheartedly on my social work studies.”
Cheng Tsz-ho (Year 1, Counselling and Psychology):
“I am deeply honored to receive the Link University Scholarship. The pre-ceremony workshop provided a valuable opportunity to communicate and collaborate with students from different universities. It not only broadened my social network but also helped me develop important skills such as communication and leadership. In the future, I plan to use this scholarship to enhance my personal growth by learning Korean, participating in study exchange programmes, and purchasing psychology books to expand my knowledge and understanding in the field.”
Athena Mak Hoi-ki (Year 4, Chinese Language and Literature):
“I am deeply honored and grateful to receive the Link University Scholarship. This recognition not only affirms my personal capabilities but also serves as a powerful encouragement, motivating me to pursue my goals with renewed vigour. During my secondary school years, a mentor often inspired us with the words, “Perseverance leads to victory.” This scholarship stands as tangible proof of that perseverance and hard work. I hope to carry this precious encouragement forward, continuing to strive diligently and live up to the promise of my future.”
