Hong Kong Shue Yan University deeply mourns the passing of Dr Dennis TING Hok-shou, Honorary Advisor to the Board of Governors, on 8 September 2025 at the age of 95. The University leadership extends its heartfelt condolences to Dr TING’s family.

Dr TING devoted more than four decades of service to Shue Yan. He was appointed to the Board of Governors in 1980, and from 1983 to 2014 served as its Chairman, a remarkable tenure for over a quarter of a century. Since 2024, he had served as Honorary Advisor to the Board of Governors.

Beyond higher education, Dr TING made significant contributions to society through leadership roles in the public sector and trade organizations. He was a former president of the Hong Kong Plastics Manufacturers Association, Honorary President of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, and was a standing committee member of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

Dr TING was the elder brother of Mr Kenneth TING Woo-shou, the current Chairman of the HKSYU Board of Governors. His commitment to Shue Yan and to the wider community will be fondly remembered.
