Hong Kong Shue Yan University is deeply saddened by the passing of Dr Dennis Ting Hok-shou, Honorary Advisor to the Board of Governors, who passed away on 8 September 2025, at the age of 95. The University and its staff extend their heartfelt condolences to Dr Ting’s family during this time of loss.
Dr Ting maintained a profound and longstanding relationship with Shue Yan, contributing to its development for more than 40 years. He was appointed to the Board of Governors in 1980 and served as its Chairman from 1983 to 2014, a remarkable tenure of over 25 years. Since 2024, he continued to support the University in the role of Honorary Advisor.
In addition to his distinguished service in higher education, Dr Ting was a respected figure in Hong Kong’s industrial and public sectors. He served as Chairman of the Hong Kong Plastics Manufacturers Association, Honorary President of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, and was a member of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
Dr Ting was also the elder brother of Mr Kenneth Ting Woo-shou, the current Chairman of the HKSYU Board of Governors. His unwavering commitment to public service, education, and ethical leadership leaves behind an enduring legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.
