The Centre for Global Engagement (CGE) at HKSYU strives to collaborate with global educational institutions, expanding opportunities for HKSYU students to study abroad.

HKSYU hosts recent esteemed delegations

On February 26, 2025, the CGE welcomed representatives from the Shaoxing Bureau of Education and the Shaoxing Municipal People’s Government, followed by a visit on March 4 from representatives of the China Education Group and Jiangxi University of Technology. Both delegations engaged in discussion regarding potential collaborations in academic and cultural exchanges, thereby fostering stronger ties between our university and institutions in Mainland China.

The events were attended by HKSYU faculty members, including Professor Selina CHAN Ching, Academic Vice President; Dr Jason CHOW, Vice President (University Administration); Professor Nick LAU, Head of Department of Applied Data Science; Mr Edgar SO, Director of Industrial Attachment Office; and Dr Alice CHUNG, Director of Global Engagement.

During their visit, attendees had the opportunity to explore HKSYU’s state-of-the-art facilities, including the Digital Imaging Lab and the AR/VR Lab. These laboratories serve as hubs for interdisciplinary projects, where culture, arts, and heritage intersect with advanced technology, transforming pedagogical approaches and enhancing the overall learning experience.

 

Meeting with Professor Dominik WANNER from Worcester College (University of Oxford)

Dr Alice CHUNG, Director ofGlobal Engagement, met with Professor Dominik WANNER from Worcester College, University of Oxford.

On March 13, the CGE had the privilege of hosting Professor Dominik WANNER from Worcester College, University of Oxford, to discuss potential collaborations, culminating in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This partnership opens doors for HKSYU students to study at Worcester College during
the summer, immersing themselves in Oxford’s historic academic environment. Known for its courses in Law, Economics, and STEM, Worcester College offers a perfect blend of rigorous academics and cultural enrichment—an invaluable opportunity for our students to broaden their global perspectives.

 

Meeting with Ambassador of University of Foggia

Dr Alice CHUNG, Director of Global Engagement, and Mr Stefano La Torre, Ambassador of University of Foggia.

On April 14, the CGE held a productive meeting with Mr Stefano La Torre from the University of Foggia to discuss potential collaboration between the two universities, including student exchange programmes and faculty development initiatives. Despite being relatively young—established just 26 years ago—the University of Foggia ranked among Italy’s top 12 universities and the first institution in the country to receive the“ HR Excellence in Research” Award from the European Commission.

Additionally, the University has formed bilateral agreements with over 500 universities worldwide in a short span, demonstrating its proactive approach to global collaboration, which closely aligns with our commitment to enhancing global engagement.
