Dr GUO Jing, Assistant Professor in the Department of Journalism and Communication at Hong Kong Shue Yan University, has been awarded the Best Faculty Paper by the 2025 International Chinese Communication Association (ICCA) at the International Communication Association (ICA). The paper was presented at the conference in Denver, USA on 13 June, 2025.

The award-winning paper, titled “Revisiting China’s Internet Censorship in the ‘Repression-Dissent Puzzle’: Effects of Censorship Experiences through Negative Emotions Arousal”, examined the mechanism and effects of internet censorship on Chinese public. The study novelly employs experimental design to examine how the Chinese public perceive and react upon the enhanced internet control in the country. The paper received the highest review score among all faculty research papers  submitted to the ICCA division.

The ICA annual conference is a top academic conference in the field of communication, held by the ICA with over 5,000 communication scholars
