On 10 November 2025, Dr Nancy XIAO, Associate Head of the Department of Law and Business, attended the 118th Annual Cocktail Reception of the Law Society of Hong Kong at the Hong Kong Club on behalf of Professor LEUNG Hing-fung, Head of the Department. The reception marked the 118th anniversary of the Law Society since its establishment in 1907.

Hosted in Central, the event brought together a distinguished gathering of guests and members from across the legal and professional sectors. As the statutory self-regulatory body for solicitors in Hong Kong, the Law Society continues to uphold the rule of law, promote professional excellence, and foster cross-sector partnerships contributing to Hong Kong and the nation. The reception welcomed representatives from the Judiciary, the Executive Council, the Legislative Council, government departments and related organisations, consulates general, chambers of commerce, law schools, and Mainland lawyers’ associations, reflecting the strong and enduring connections within Hong Kong’s legal community.

Distinguished attendees included The Honourable Andrew CHEUNG Kui-nung, GBM, Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal, and The Honourable Paul LAM Ting-kwok, GBS, SC, JP, Secretary for Justice. Law Society President Mr Roden M.L. TONG, together with Council Members, warmly received guests and members, fostering meaningful exchanges that highlighted the profession’s shared values of service, integrity, and unity.

During the reception, Dr XIAO engaged with representatives of the Law Society and members of the legal profession, strengthening ties between academia and practice. The event provided a valuable platform to enhance collaboration and maintain close communication between the University and the wider legal community.
